If you are travelling to Rio:

• Always be aware of  where you are and what's going around you.

• Don't go into the favelas.

• Don't flash your money or credit cards around.

            

• Leave expensive jewellery at home.

• And, if you can afford it, get a driver to show you around.

If you are a smart traveller , Rio is a fantastic destination.
